Selection of Signal Light
The selection of a visual signal transmission equipment requires the consideration of its validity according to situations and environments.
  • In case that an area surrounding Signal Light as installed is dark or bright
  • In case that the distance of signal transmission should be large or that the distance is small but needs to be highly visible
  • In case that Signal Light should be economically efficient although its life span is short or that the light should be long in life span although it is highly priced
  • In case that Signal Light is influenced by bad environments such as high vibration or shock or that the light is warranted its pre- determined life span under relatively stable environments
  • n case that any instant damage to the source(electric bub) of Signal Light greatly influences work under way or safety, or dose not
According to these cases, Signal Light should be selected differently in type. The convenience and economic efficiency of the maintainance of the light should be also considered.

Light Source of Signal Light
1. Electric Bulb
Electric bulb is a light emitter that utilizes a reflective temperature formed by the current flowing through the filament. Filament is a coil type of tungsten lines. An inactive gas(i.e. alcohol) is injected into the bulb made of glass. Such gas injection bulb has general characteristics as follows.
  • 1) When the used voltage of the electric bulb is lowered by 10% than the rated voltage, the life span of the bulb extends by four times and consumption power goes down to 85% while luminosity(brightness) decreases by about 30%.
  • 2) When the used voltage of the electric bulb goes up by 10%, the life span of the bulb sharply decreases to 30% and consumption power increases by 10% while brightness enhances by about 40%. The standard life of an ordinary electric bulb is 1,000 to 1,500 hours.
2. LED
LED is a radiating element whose operation is made through putting the current into the PN connection of a special semiconductor. The special semiconductor has a type of GaAs or GaP which has been studied for electricity-optical conversion. Like the life of ordinary semiconductors, that of the special semiconductor is influenced by excessive voltage or a peripheral temperature, but longer for the filament doesn't become burnt and thin, has no mechanical wear and has a strong resistance to vibration or shock with no need of a special earthquake-proof structure. The standard life of LED is about 20,000 to 25,000 hours.
3. Xenon Lamp
Xenon Lamp is a fresh one that radiates a high output of light at a moment using a relatively high energy put into the lamp for a short time. The lamp needs the momentous input of enormous power to make an extremely high intensity of radiation in contrast to continuous radiation lamps. Xenon Lamp has Xe gas injected because of convenience in production(selection of materials) and in use(low in radiation voltage). The lamp was named after the gas.

Xenon Lamp is excellent in earthquake proofness because it can be fixed with the same condition ensured. The spectacle distribution of the visibility part of the lamp is similar with that of sun light. The way of radiation by Xenon Lamp is the same as that by the strobe of a camera, ensuring high visibility even under a bright peripheral environment.
4. Comparison of Life Spans, Brightness and Economic Efficiency in Accordance with Types of Light Source
※ The comparison is made for general characteristics of Signal Light, or self-life,luminosity and economic efficiency each of which is basically set to 100 in value.
  • The strobe type of Signal Light is more advantage in luminosity and the bulb lighting/flickering type in economic efficiency.
B/BF - Selection of Signal Light
B/BF-Electric Bulb Lighting/Flickering Types employ a filament bulb as the light source whose radiation is distributed through a spectral globe. The lamp emits light widely because it is on point light basis. Cut in the form of a spectrum, the globe allows the non-reduction and more consistency of brightness at the surface of radiation. It is very suitable for calling attention in a short distance rather than a long one.

Electric Bulb Lighting Type(B Type) lights up simultaneously with power-up and lights off by the user's operation of the outside contact point. The other type(BF Type) flickers 80 to 100 times per minute with a control substrate for flickering built-in, so there is no need of contact point outside.
R - Bulb Revolvion Type
Electric Bulb Rotation Reflector Type is most often employed by ordinary warning lights whoseelectric bulb radiation is reflected and distributed through a rotation reflector.

With the reflected, nearly horizontal rays added, the radiation as distributed is stronger than the light of Electric Bulb Lighting/Flic- kering Type.
Thus R-Electric Bulb Rotation Reflector Type is effective in clearly transmitting signals to a distant place. The type needs no light istribution because it can be rotated, and its globe is transparent instead in the form of a spectrum.
L/LF - LED 점등/점멸형
The light of LED usually goes straight be- cause its extension angle is within about 30 degrees. L/LF-LED Illumination/Flickering Types use a group of small-sized, high- brightness LEDs as a strong light source whose radiation is projected through a spectral lens. Currently, the light brightness of the types is being steadily improved as LED technologies are developed, upgrading the types-based visibility.

LED Lighting Type(L) lights up simultaneously with power-up and lights off by the user's operation of the outside contact point. The other type(LF) flickers 80 to 100 times per minute with a control substrate for flickering built-in, so there is no need of contact point outside.
LR - LED 반사경 회전형
LED Rotation Reflector Type operates in principle by way of spreading the light of high-brightness LED through a right rotation reflector, so its globe is transparent instead in the form of a spectrum. The signal light of LED is difficult to be distributed for it originally tends to go straight. To cope with this problem, the type here makes the signal light radiated through a flat rotation reflector by having several LEDs arranged over the total surface of radiation by the reflector.

LED signal light is more advantageous in a room condition than outside because it is absorbed by the sun light. Therefore, it is effective in checking signals in a short distance.
S - 크세논램프 스트로브형
Globe employs Electric Bulb or LED lighting/flickering types. S-Xenon Lamp Strobe Type emits a very strong flash by using Xenon Lamp a light source which generates a high output of light in a moment.

Xenon Lamp flashes 80 to 100 times per minute, but cannot be kept lit up. The lamp is classified into the sub- types of a single and two and three consecutive flashes according to the importance of signals.

The spectacle distribution of the visibility part of the lamp is similar with that of sun light. The way of radiation by Xenon Lamp is the same as that by the strobe of a camera, ensuring high visibility even under a bright peripheral environment.
Loudness(dB) of Sound
The strength of sound(sound volume) varies according to the amplitudes of the sound wave. Sound is heard high when the amplitude of the sound wave is high. Pronunciation devices such as piano show differences in the feeling of sound according to whether they are pla- yed with power or not. The differences is attributed to the strength of sound whose physical standard unit is a sound pressure level, that is, decibel(dB).
Decibel(dB) The sound pressure level of a low sound as just detectable is about 10 million times as low as that of a high sound which makes us feel a pain.
Such big difference is very difficult to be treated as a absolute unit. Unlike the scale of a ruler, the feeling of sound is related with the changed proportion of sound pressure level. In other words, the use of a measure saying what times of the initial level of sound pressure is better consistent with our feeling of sound. The standard unit of the measure is decibel(dB).
Therefore, dB is not an absolute unit but a proportion of difference between a specific value and a measured sound volume. Level of Sound Pressure(LP) = 20 log (p/p1) (dB) Like in the equation, the twice of a sound is 6dB in size, the triple is 9dB, the four times is 12 and the six times, 20. The increase of sound size is similar with that of a stereo volume. In general, the sound size which may call our attention is at least 80dB or over. Our Signal Phone makes an output from 80 up to 130 dB.

High or low sound is a feeling depending on the vibration number of the sound wave per second. When the vibration number is large, the sound is heard high while when the num- ber is small, the sound is heard low.
The standard unit of vibration number is Hz. Man's ears can hear 20 to 2000Hz, the range of audible sound. The height of sound is related with the vibration number of the sound wave, but not proportionate to the number. When vibration number becomes double, it is described that the height f sound becomes one octave higher than its initial value, not that the height of sound become double.

The height of sound(frequency) is based on a principle like in paino keys whose sound becomes higher as they proceed to the right.

Our Signal Phone has its own frequency band on which warning sound, alarm, melody and vocal signal proceed in order. The warning signal is highest in frequency(high sound) and the vocal signal, lowest(low sound).

Timbre is defined according to differences among momentary changes in the wave form (over tone, harmonics), based on the proportion of high-frequency components of the sound, and sound volume. The reason why the sound of the piano is different from that of the violin despite equal in strength is because the two instruments are different with each other in timbre. This also explains that there are differences in voices among individuals and that birds' singing and tigers' roaring can be discriminated.

Passing through the prism, the sun light is divided into rainbow colors. This suggests that the sun light consists of several different colors(or, several dif- ferent numbers of vibration). This is similar in case of sound. Sign waves can be regarded as sound materials. The timbre of a sound depends on the size of the sign wave for the sound.

The felt size of sound is not equal to the physical strength of sound(dB). Even sounds whose physical strength is equal are differently heard by man's ears in case that they are different in height(vibration number, frequency). A sound whose frequency is high is more stressful to the ark shell and louder to the ears than that whose frequency is low.

Thus the felt size of sound increases as the strength(dB) and height(vibration number, frequency) of sound become high. In other words, the size of sound goes up when the vibration number and amplitude of sound increase.

For our some products making sounds in equal size, or 115dB, the size of warning sound, whose frequency is high, is felt largest while that of vocal signal, whose frequency is low, smallest.

음색 조합(Combinations of Sound Tone)
Voice signals(including standard melody and alarm) can be recorded and reproduced by using a microphone.
Voice signal requires six second memory time per channel. Up to three channels can be used for voice signal memory. Reproduction signal starts its operating by the external contact switch. When switching signal is given one time, voice signal is reproduced until the time of message termination. The signal reiterates its reproduction when switching signal continues.

WVS형(사용자 녹음 입력형)사용법 (INstruction to Use of WVS Type-Recording and Inputting by Users)
1) WVS type is equipped with a jack with its body to which microphone can be connected.

2) Recording/Reproduction switch keeps the recording mode when it is on and the reproduction mode when it is off.

3) The recording and inputting of message operate immediately upon being con- nected to jack and channel switch-on as wanted. The amount of each message should not exceed the specific time per each voice signal (6 seconds).
(Otherwise, the message is overlapped that of next voice signal.)
For the selection of Explosion-Proof Product,it is important to study and check carefully such factors as the kind of explosion-proof structure,temperature regulation,kind of gas and vapour being used etc before final decision.
